Anyone that has stepped into The Blue Stoops will know about its beautiful interior, welcoming staff and an unrivalled selection of food and drink options. What you may not know, is the rich history of the oldest pub in Dronfield which has sat at the heart of the town for over 400 years.
The Blue Stoops was originally built in 1596 and quickly became a stopping place for travellers and a gathering spot for locals to share stories, eat food and share a drink. Fast forward 400 years and this hasn’t changed at all. Although the building has had a few updates in its time, the same community spirit is stronger than ever.
The staff at The Blue Stoops love being part of such a rich history and a strong community. The Grade II listed building began showing its age which is why, in 2016, True North Brew Co decided to give it a new lease of life and show it some TLC. They made it their mission to restore the building while staying true to its heritage.
Upgrades to the kitchen and interior mean that The Blue Stoops can serve food every day to parties of any size, from traditional Sunday roasts to birthday party meals. The biggest renovation was to the beautiful Byron Room – which is a free function room that has enough space for all kinds of celebrations and events.
The Blue Stoops is steeped in history but it’s not just the building or the friendly staff that make it such a great place. It’s the community in Dronfield that helps create a warm and welcoming environment. Local regulars and passing visitors come in every day bringing with them their stories and good times.
Whether you fancy a drink with friends to catch up, a business meeting with colleagues, a family meal with loved ones or a party to celebrate any occasion, you can always find a good time at The Blue Stoops. Proud to be Dronfield’s oldest local.
